Tai chi is a series of gentle physical exercises and stretches that helps improve aerobic conditioning and balance, as well as providing emotional and mental benefits. It can boost upper- and lower-body flexibility as well as strength. The movements of tai chi are performed in a slow manner accompanied by deep breathing. Each movement flows into the next without pausing, allowing the body to be in a constant gentle motion.

Anyone with limited mobility, physical impairments or balance problems is very welcome to join us. You can participate in our sessions whilst sitting on a chair and limiting yourself to working on upper body movements only.

Our classes begin with a gentle warm-up, meant to loosen up the muscles and joints. Next, some qigong, which is a sequence of breathing and gentle stretching exercises. We will then begin practicing Tai Chi. As the weeks progress we will revise previously learnt movements, before progressing to the learning on new ones. We are not following a set schedule, nor do we have to meet deadlines! So, no one who misses sessions will be left struggling to catch up.

We charge £2.00 per session to cover the cost of hiring the hall.
