Badminton is a sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net, normally played either as singles or doubles. Games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the other team's half of the court, within the set boundaries. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Play ends once the shuttlecock has struck the floor or if a fault is called. We will use a plastic shuttlecock that flies differently from the balls used in many other sports. Shuttlecocks have a high top speed compared to the balls in other racquet sports, making badminton the fastest racquet sport in the world.
We are planning on starting this new group once we have sufficient interest. Whether you have played recently, not played since school, or are an absolute beginner you will be welcome to join us. Please contact Lynne via the link above to register your interest.
