Canasta (spanish for "basket") is a card game of the rummy family of games. Groups of four players, in two partnerships, attempt to make "melds" of seven cards of the same rank and "go out" by playing all cards in their hands.

Canasta is a fun game to play and can easily be picked up by a new player. The ability to play is therefore not necessary to join the group. Tuition is available and the group offers a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
